Consul-General Sevikul informed the gathering of the background of the visit of this delegation by sharing that when he first arrived to assume his position in July 2026, he became aware of the formation of the establishment of the Dubai Longevity Authority (DLA) in June 2026. Realizing that health, wellness and longevity are areas that Thailand’s experience and expertise align with the DLA’s objectives, the Royal Thai Consulate General reached out to DLA to explore possible areas of cooperation. An online meeting between the Consulate General and DLA was held on 23 July 2026, and the two sides exchanged views and ideas on how to enhance further cooperation on improving, promoting, and sustaining an individual’s healthspan and enhancing their health-related quality of life. The Consulate General thus invited the Delegation from Thailand, comprising both the public and private sectors, to visit Dubai and had a meeting with the DLA on 29 September 2026. The fruitful meeting, with Thailand being the first foreign government to meet with the DLA, shared Thailand’s experiences and ideas on wide ranging issues from regulatory frameworks, Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), health tourism, and the role of the public and private sectors in cooperating and advancing health, wellness and longevity agendas, both sides exploring ways and means to enhance cooperation.
Consul Boonyasopat gave an overview of the Consulate General’s efforts over the past four years in promoting health cooperation with Dubai by inviting delegations from the public sectors from Thailand to Dubai to regularly meet and discuss health cooperation, as well as inviting Thai private sector to attend health related International Exhibitions in Dubai, reinforcing the fact that Thailand has always been determined to expand health cooperation with Dubai.
H.E. Consul-General Sevikul concluded the event by stating that the visions of His Highnesses Shiekh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in establishing the DLA is a noble initiative that is not focused solely on economic advancement but rather on the long term health and wellbeing of the people of Dubai. It is a noble mission that Thailand, with her experiences and expertise in some areas already can support and accelerate Dubai’s efforts.
“There is a saying: if you want to go fast you go alone, but if you want to go far you go with a friend,” H.E. Consul-General Sevikul stated, “And on Dubai’s path towards becoming the Longevity Hub, Thailand is ready to be the reliable friend that supports and walk alongside Dubai on this journey.”
